What happens if I do not wear my braces?

You can expect big problems without dental braces treatment in the future. We can explain this in two parts. The first may be aesthetic, the second one is health problem. Crooked teeth cause many tooth and gum problems, especially tooth decay. Do braces tooth decays?

Unlike what is believed, tooth wires and braces do not lead to tooth decays. This is one of the most curious questions of the patients who will start the orthodontic treatment. If oral hygiene is not taken into consideration, it can cause tooth decay if the wire stays in the mouth for a long time. We can say that this case is for fixed threads. There is no such problem for moving orthodontic treatment. The wires do not damage or decompose the teeth during the fixed orthodontic treatment. However, if the oral care is not performed well after the treatment is started and afterwards, decaying of the teeth may ocur. Because wires and braces provide the basis for the formation of bacteria thanks to the food that accumulates after eating. Food crumbs shoul be cleaned very well. If  teeth are not brushed after every meal, morning, noon and evening, decays  occur in places where the crumbs pile up. Proper care and hygiene must be ensured. Dental braces and wires do not harm the teeth either chemically or mechanically when attention is paid to this matter.

Are the dental wires harmful?
